The Joy of "The Joy of Mixology"
Sunday January 1, 2006
Recently I came across a cocktail guide book with a feature like no other I'd seen before. Gary Regan's "The Joy of Mixology" is full of wonderful information about cocktails and bartending in general, however the best feature of this book has to be the table of cocktail families. This quick reference section lists various cocktails by family and they're main ingredients. I found this particularly handy when I had one bottle of vodka, orange juice, cranberry juice and grenadine and had to entertain in a few hours. Using the table I found that I could make a Screwdriver and Tequila Sunrise and if I picked up Peach Schnapps or Galliano I could then add a Fuzzy Navel, a Harvey Wallbanger and a Freddie Fudpucker to this list and have a great selection of Florida Highballs to mix up for my guests.
