Recreating Washington's Distillery
Monday April 3, 2006
After 200 years of ruins George Washington's Whiskey Distillery will soon be back in operation, producing whiskey the way America's first president did. The restoration process began with an archaelogical excavation on Washington's Mount Vernon estate and is now in the stages of installing replica stills like the one in the photo on the right. The only working 18th century distillery in North America is scheduled to be completed in September of this year and will be open to the public next April as an integral part of the American Whiskey Trail.
