Alcohol Awareness Month
Monday April 24, 2006
I thought it would be a good reminder for everyone as we near the end of April that it is Alcohol Awareness Month. Many of these month long awareness campaigns recieve an over abundance of press at the beginning of the month and, unfortunately, most people have forgotten the designation by the third week. Alcohol Awareness Month is meant to remind people that anyone, regardless of age, race, or sex can abuse alcohol. This includes teenagers sneaking a bottle from their parent's liquor cabinet, college students binge drinking on the weekends, professionals who drink after work to relax and anyone who drinks to fight loneliness. Drinking can become a serious problem for anyone and for some, more than others, it can be a life and death battle to stop. Responsible use of alcohol is the best way to avoid hurting yourself and others, and can be done by not over-indulging, never drinking and driving and knowing the signs of underage abuse. If you or anyone you know may have a problem with alcohol, it is time to seek professional help.
