Derby Time!

The 2006 Kentucky Derby is taking place Saturday, May 6th. What a great time to try out some new Kentucky bourbon cocktails that will get you into the spirit. A favorite of Derby watchers that is as classic as the race itself is the Old-Fashioned, but if you're looking for something a little fancier and more contemporary, you might want to try an Island Mango Slush. This is more of a tropical drink than most bourbon cocktails but it is a wonderful blend of mango, ginger and mint that add a refreshing twist to the robust spirit from Kentucky. The race is televised at 5 p.m. Eastern time Saturday on NBC and special coverage begins a couple hours earlier. So pick up a bottle of Knob Creek or Maker's Mark, invite some friends over and mix it up as you watch this exciting race.
