Take Off with a Flight

Wednesday May 17, 2006
Usually you can find samplers at microbreweries, allowing your party to taste the varieties of ales and lagers the brewer produces, now you can do the same with spirits and even cocktails. One of the growing trends at lounges, bars and restaurants are Spirit Flights and Cocktail Flights. Spirit flights are usually a variety of one liquor that allows you to taste the difference between brands and types. For a Tequila Flight, you may get a variety of 6 shots that includes blancos, reposados and aņejos for you to share, analyze and discuss with your friends. Cocktail flights are quite simply a variety short mixed cocktails for you to sample. Many of the establishments that are serving the cocktail samplers will offer this for their signature or original drinks as a way to let patrons "try before you buy." At any rate, if you get the opportunity to order a flight of any drinks, do it. It is the best way to find what you like and try something new without committing to an entire drink.

I thought it was a great idea! With any luck it will catch on at more lounges around the country.
