Lynchburg Lemonade is a classic mixed drink, in fact it's the first one I ever had. Sadly, more often than not people take a shortcut and never get to really experience the delicate flavors of this great drink. Time after time I've seen a shot of
Jack Daniel's poured into a glass and topped with a pre-mixed lemonade complete with all the sugars, artificial flavors and coloring agents along with the claim that this
is Lynchburg Lemonade. While this may taste good, the real deal is so much better and if you're one of those people taking the easy way out, you'll never go back to that bad habit once you give it a try. Realistically, it is not much more difficult to make a real glass of this lemonade. All you need is Jack Daniel's, triple sec,
sweet & sour and a lemon-lime soda. It really is that simple and you probably have all of these
essentials behind your bar anyway, so why not? This also makes a great punch for larger parties.
Summer Picnic Ideas:
Our guide to Southern Cooking suggests this delicious Potato Salad perfect for the picnic cooler, and it always tastes better outdoors! And prepare this fabulous Southern Fried Chicken the night before the picnic or early in the day. Refrigerate to chill and keep it cold until it's time to leave for the picnic, then pack it on ice to keep it cool until serving time.
