Fabulous Fall Cocktails
Saturday September 16, 2006
While next Friday is the official beginning of autumn, it is already here. The trees are slowly turning to the beautiful yellows, reds and oranges the leaf peepers flock towards and the days are growing shorter. Each day becomes a new weather adventure, one day it's sunny and 80 and the next is dreary, 50 and rainy. It's all a part of the change of seasons. Our tastes in drinks also revolve with the seasons and the tendency for fall is toward cocktails that are warm and/or warming. Brandy and whiskey become favorite bases this time of year, as indicated by the liquor store shelves, and the stoves are fired up, warming water for toddy teas, apple cider and wine. Two not-to-miss drinks this fall are the Hot Apple Toddy and Hot Apple Pie.
