Celebrate Repeal Day! - December 5th
Monday December 4, 2006
December 5th marks the 73rd anniversary of the day prohibition was repealed. It's a day when we should all stop by our favorite speakeasy, order a Manhattan, Martini, Old-fashioned or Ward Eight and revel in the simple fact that you can drink if you want. For 13 years (1920-1933) a nationwide prohibition of alcohol in the United States was enforced by the 18th Amendment to the Constitution. Thankfully, the 21st Amendment repealed prohibition and Americans could once again drink their favorite cocktails, beer and wine in public. Here's to the day we got our spirits back!
