Back into The Spirit: Bong Spirit That Is
Wednesday February 28, 2007
I have a new vodka that has deemed itself worthy of the "gotta try" list. I’ll warn you though; it may very well become your new favorite. The spirit I speak of is Bong Spirit Vodka. (The photograph on the right will explain the name clearly for you.) The creative minds behind this new super-premium vodka (including marketing director and brand designer, artist Jimi Beach) have put the Spirit of the Brand into every aspect of the vodka that has been a well-kept Dutch family tradition through five generations. Yes, the bottle has the shape of a water bong, a symbol of community interaction, the art featured on the collector series bottles is all designed by lesser known artists that deserve a spotlight and Bong Spirit's promotional campaigns include equally deserving musicians, performing artists and artists from every medium. So how is the vodka? Is it all hype, surrounded by the first marketing campaign of its kind and scale? Well, to be succinct, it's excellent! It has a luscious, silky feel with slight floral and citrus notes and is wonderful both straight and mixed in elegant cocktails with mixers of equal quality. Bong Spirit Vodka is one of the new luxury spirits that hit the mark they were aiming for. Now we have to wait and see what the company does with their tequila (which is projected to be released sometime this year) and their more distant plans of producing gin, rum, whiskey and beer. It should be interesting.

Wow. Interesting choice for marketing. I see there are no distributors in states other than Florida and Jersey. Any contact info you’d care to share?
Thanks!
Currently Bong is available in Florida and New Jersey. They’re planning to hit more markets yet this year. You can find all of the locations it’s available on their website (http://www.theinvodka.com/). It’s a tiny “Product Locator” link on the bottom.
I contacted them, they’re going to be opening distros here in Cali in a few weeks, and hopefully here in San Diego in a month or so.
