Spring Project: A New Home Bar

Tuesday March 20, 2007
Here's a thought for this spring: Build a new home bar or revamp your old one. I'm not one for spring cleaning but it's a great time of the year to enhance your home in some other way and I can't think of a better spring project than building a bar. Maybe adding a bar has been on your to do list for awhile or your bar is out of date and needs a little renovation or you want to transform a dry bar into a wet bar. There are a variety of styles and designs available that are easy to build yourself and if you're not the handiest person, take your ideas to a professional and let them take care of the details. Some of the best new styles I've seen lately are on HomePortfolio.com, I especially like the sleek Serpentine bar that could turn the right room into drinking heaven. It doesn't have to be that extensive though, with the right choice of wood finish and countertop standard designs like those at BarPlan.com and Home Bar Plans on the Web can be just as stunning. There is a solution for those who live in apartments and other small spaces. The Hall Closet Bar from an HGTV show a few years ago is the perfect hidden drink oasis for tight spaces.
