Fir Anyone?

Sunday June 10, 2007
Here's the challenge for the day... Find a Douglas Fir tree that has new growth. "Why," you ask. To make a great drink of course. Gwen at Intoxicated Zodiac Blog has been kind enough to share with us one of her original cocktails, the Douglas Fir Tip Tipple or the Fir Tiptini. For this drink she muddles the newest growth of Douglas Fir trees with organic sugar and lemon juice, shakes that mix with vodka, strains, and tops it with seltzer. I have yet to try it myself, but it sounds absolutely earthy and has intrigued my interest. In the spirit of this all-natural martini, it would be appropriate to use an equally natural vodka such as Square One Organic Vodka or 360 Vodka.
