Impressive Blue Ice Cocktails
Wednesday September 5, 2007
Blue Ice American Vodka is one of the newer premium vodkas swarming liquor shelves across the country. Every vodka needs a stand out characteristic and Blue Ice's is the Idaho Russet potato. Potato vodka is most often distilled in Russia and Eastern Europe, but the quality of potatoes grown in Idaho was bound to spur an American potato vodka at some point. This potato vodka is super clean, with only a slight oiliness (a typical complaint of potato vodkas), and deserves to be showcased in cocktails. Blue Ice passed on quite a few excellent cocktail recipes that spanned the scope of drinks. One of my new favorites is the Icy Spicy Blue Ice Martini, which simply employs jalapeņo juice and Blue Ice in a Martini. As a great beginning and end to an elegant dinner, have a taste of the Blondie in Blue (vodka, Marie Brizard Parfait Amour and Lillet Blonde) as an aperitif and Blue Ice's Raspberry Truffle (vodka, Kahlua and Chambord) for dessert. Cocktails made with Blue Ice are as impressive as the vodka is on its own, it's another vodka to add to the list of those to try.
