Let's Talk About Irish Whiskey

Saturday March 8, 2008
Bushmills Irish Whiskey To get started with my favorite holiday, St. Patrick's Day, I thought it would be nice to share our favorite Irish whiskies. Personally, it's a toss up between Bushmills and Jameson for everyday drinking and mixing, while Tullamore Dew and Bushmills 1608 are my preferred sippers and special occasion bottles. Granted, this poll includes the general brand and doesn't go into the multiple bottlings of each (different ages, malts, etc.). To include all of those would create a long, long list, so if you have a preference within a preference let us know.

Nothing better than two fingers of Bushmills and a pint of Guinness…..certainly an improvement over the 50 cent combination of a shot glass of rut-gut rye with a local beer chaser of my youth…….

Gotta love Jameson — Straight up or over ice. Wouldn’t make the obligatory holiday Irish coffee without it. Of course, after a few rounds it doesn’t make much difference!

I’ll have an Irish Ice Cream, half a glass of Bailey’s and half a glass of Bushmill on the rocks.

Redbreast. Look no further.
