Tuesday's Timeless Tipple: Hi Ho Cocktail

Tuesday October 7, 2008
Prohibition was a tumultuous time for drinkers and those behind the drinks but many great cocktails came out of this era and remain timeless favorites. Such is the case for the Hi Ho Cocktail, a signature drink of the popular Hollywood speakeasy by the same name.
The Hi Ho Cocktail

The Hi Ho Cocktail is a simple variation of the classic Martini and replaces the vermouth with an equally dry white port. While white port is not as readily available as tawny or red port, substituting the more common variety in this drink creates a completely different experience and one that I don't recommend. You can find white port in many places if you look for it and the search is worth it when you sit down and relax with this 30's style cocktail.
