Grand Marnier Cocktail Macaroons

Wednesday October 22, 2008
Recently I had some of the best pastries I've ever had. They are Grand Marnier Cocktail Macaroons and they are a brand new delicacy at New York's Payard Pâtisserie & Bistro. You can get a hold of these macaroons in person at the bistro or at their website Payard.com (they'll ship next day fre

Payard's macaroons are described by François Payard, a third generation Pâtissier, and Owner of Payard Pâtisserie & Bistro (who teamed up with another pastry master, Nicolas Boussin, to create the macaroons), as a "marriage between pastry and mixology." There is no better way to describe these pastries made with the decadent orange liqueur, their sweet, fragrant and a true indulgence. There are four flavors: Grand Cosmo, Grand Margarita, Grand Mojito and the Orange Crush. The Grand Cosmo and Mojito are my personal favorites and all of them do carry the flavors of their cocktail namesakes.

The ultimate in luxury desserts is to pair them with a great drink (using Grand Marnier of course). The Grand Cosmo is ideal with a Cosmopolitan, the Grand Mojito with a Mojito or Madison Avenue, the Grand Margarita with a Grand Golden Margarita and the Orange Crush with a D'Artagnan.
