Oh, So Tru...Organic Vodka and Gin
While Tru's vodkas are great it's the gin that I found to be the shining star of their line. Tru2 Organic Gin certainly doesn't look like the crystal clear spirit we often see in premium London Dry's that scatter the shelves, in fact its golden color is more like that of an aged tequila. Its that aspect of the distiller leaving all of the whole flavor and color that produced one of the most flavorful gins available and their disclosure of the 14 botanicals they use is refreshing because you know what you're getting.
If you like gin, or even if you don't but want to try one that is unlike any others, Tru2 has the ability to show you what a really good drink is. I have the opportunity to taste many gins and can make a very fine Martini and each time I introduce myself to a new gin its customary for me to try it in that quintessential gin cocktail first. So, in my usual fashion I stirred up a Tru2 Martini and with that first sip I knew this was something different, something spectacular and that Martini was the best I've had in a long time.
As an extra bonus, Tru is all about being eco-friendly and has put a multitude of sustainable practices into place. This includes less glass in the bottles, tree-free labels and a tree is planted for every bottle sold.

Today I bought a bottle of Tru 2 Organic Gin. This evening, I gave it a test run. The to say the least, robust, flavor reminds me of something, but it doesn’t remind me of gin. I am an unashamed gin lover, and I love shaming those who waste their time with vodka. I like retsina, Scotch, and other full-flavored drink, but those guys have gone too far, way too far. This stuff is more medicinal than the funkiest Scotch, and much more expensive than mouthwash, any one of which has a more beguiling flavor. I can’t decide whether to give the rest of the bottle to the local food bank, or just pour it down the drain. I’m back to the basics for gin, and my martinis: for only a few dollars more, there’s Tanqueray 10; for a few dollars less, there’s good old Gordon’s. From now on, I’m un-Tru.
