Saturday Sipping: Bushmills Irish Whiskey and the Burning Bush

Saturday January 17, 2009
The frigid temperatures call for a Toddy-esque drink for this Saturday Sipper. With this one you'll want to pull out your favorite expression of Bushmills Irish Whiskey for a simple, yet fulfilling Burning Bush. Burning Bush Hot Cocktail

In the original Hot Toddy almost every style of whiskey is employed, but rarely do we think of the Irish variety. Now we do and it has it's own name thanks to Jim Meehan down at the secretive PDT. The thing I enjoy most about the Burning Bush is that you can stay within the Bushmills brand while experimenting with the various expressions and find a wholly unique experience in each.

Speaking of PDT... if you've ever wondered about this "modern speakeasy" that seems to be creating many of the great new cocktails of late, the latest issue of Imbibe is a must read. In it Amy Zavatto and photographer Steph Goralnick take us inside the experience of one night at PDT. It is a fascinating story.

Hey Colleen, thanks for the kind words about the Imbibe story! You just made my day. :) I don’t know if you remember, but we actually traveled together on that tequila trip a couple of years ago. Hope you’re well!

Best, best,
Amy

Ah, yes, that Amy! Great story, I was captivated and I think it’s the first time I’ve seen someone cover PDT in the real experience. I’m sure we’ll cross paths again soon!
