Cocktails on iPhones

The days (or nights if it were) of debating over what goes into a certain drink or thumbing through a bar book stained with dried liquor in the dark are over if you have an iPhone. There are a few applications available that hold cocktail recipes right there in that phone that seems to do everything.

These cocktail apps are extremely convenient. I've seen many bartenders pick up their phone to find a recipe and party hosts pull out a few new ideas off them. There are a few options out there but the best I've checked out yet is Pocket Cocktails. Over 300 drinks are included with a lot of favorites and quite a few obscure drinks that are interesting, but beyond the crisp images and variety of drinks, the best feature is the shake. Talk about bringing the style of the bar into technology, when you shake your phone in the "Random! Random!" mode you either get the sound of a shaker or some catchy phrase and a random cocktail appears. That is a great way to explore drinks and break out of a rut.

The iPhone is not just to read the recipes. You might also shake them:
