Mardi Gras and Carnival Drink Line-up

Let the parties begin! Okay, in reality they already have, but that's beside the point because 'tis the season of Carnival and Mardi Gras. Yes, it is once again time for that one big, communal party before Lent and this is an excellent time to pull out Brazilian and New Orleans cocktails, no matter if you're headed to one of the party hot spots or staying home.

As much as I would love to be in New Orleans (or better yet Brazil) for the party, I will be spending the days in St. Croix and saving the French Quarter for Tales of the Cocktail in July. If you are going to the party this week, have fun, be careful and do yourself a favor and stop by the Carousel Piano Bar & Lounge in the Hotel Monteleone for a Vieux Carre or The Old Absinthe House for a Sazerac. History buffs can also stop by the Museum of the American Cocktail.
