Tuesday's Timeless Tipple: Pink Gin

I'm keeping it simple for this week's Timeless Tipple, about as simple as a drink can get without being straight. The classic I speak of is none other than Pink Gin and you may have had this one without knowing it.

The name may allude to some froo-froo drink filled with pink liqueurs and maybe some cream. However, this is a true gin lover's drink. The Pink Gin is also known as the Gin & Bitters and that name tells you exactly what it is and it is a fantastic way to enjoy a fine gin. I am a bitters freak and it ends up in most everything (appropriately, of course) so when I have a new bottle of gin to explore the Pink Gin ends up in the tasting line-up. The way in which a few drops of aromatic bitters plays with and opens up the different gins is amazing. It's interesting how in one gin the botanical enhancement will bring out juniper and in another orange.

I’ll be trying this next time I go out. Maybe with a splash of tonic? Should I invest in a bottle of bitters? How long does it last?
