The weekend of March 21st at the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco was one of the biggest days of the year for spirits. That was when the famous San Francisco World Spirits Competition was held and I've picked out some of the notable gold medal winners from the hefty list (view full results here).

- Double Gold Medal Cream/Dairy Liqueur: Carolans Irish Cream Liqueur - I prefer over Bailey's
- Double Gold Medal Cream/Dairy Liqueur: Baileys Mint Chocolate Cream Liqueur
- Gold Medal Herbal/Botanical Liqueur: St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur - one of the best new additions to the spirit shelf
- Double Gold Medal Fruit Liqueur: Leopold Bros. New England Cranberry Liqueur
- Best Pisco, Double Gold Medal Pisco: Estirpe Pervana Pisco
- Gold Medal French Grape Brandy: St. Rémy Cognac XO
- Double Gold Medal Blended Malt Scotch: Johnnie Walker Gold Label Scotch
- Double Gold Medal Single Malt Scotch: Glenfarclas 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch - this list goes on for 4 pages and this was the top of the affordable at around $45)
