There are many variations of the Martini but few are quite as spectacular as this week's sipper. The drink is the Chartreuse Martini and the key ingredient that separates it from all of the other "tinis" is Green Chartreuse.
I have always loved the Chartreuse Martini, but it wasn't until I pulled it out at a private party I was bartending a few weeks ago that I understood just how impressive it could be. The Chartreuse adds an extra depth to the standard gin and vermouth drink that most people can't help but fall in love with. It is a sweet, herbal balance that most other drinks cannot achieve and for anyone who is looking to cater to not-so-dry tastes, it is an ideal alternative. This and the Chartreuse Soleil are two of the best ways to experience this fantastic liqueur at its best. After one or two tastes of either cocktail you may just find it is one of the necessary indulgences that should be regularly stocked in every bar.
