Yes, the vodka giant is at it again, this time with a new "city" vodka inspired by one of my favorite cities in America. Absolut Boston was officially released today and I've had some time to experiment with it before today and, well, let's just say it is interesting.

You can read more of my thoughts in the full review here. To sum it up quickly I'm not the biggest fan of the black tea and elderflower infusion for the main reason that the tea is very in your face. However, I have had some of my taste testers ask for round after round because they are drawn in by that dark tea and I have had some luck in finding balancing cocktails, with the Absolut Boston Homerun being the most successful.

As with all of Absolut's city campaign, the profits from the sales of Boston will be going to a cause in the namesake city. In this case it is the Charles River Conservancy to improve the riverbanks, which have so much potential, and the exclusive Massachusetts distributor, Horizon Beverage Co., is going to throw an extra $30,000 on top for a little bonus.

The other aspect of Absolut Boston's launch that is interesting is that they have built a "Wall of Pride" in Boylston Plaza at the Prudential Center. This will be up until September 4th and displays the memories of many of Boston's celebrities. After next Friday the individual pieces of the wall will be given to the lucky winners of the eBay auctions, which you can learn more about at the "Get a Piece of the Wall" Facebook page. Again, this goes to the charity and, in case you didn't catch it, the "wall" theme is referring to Fenway Park's infamous "Green Monster" of a left field wall.
