Recipe Variation

Want to Spike It?

While this drink is designed to be non-alcoholic, there is no reason you can't spike it as you see fit. The top choice has to be a Blanco tequila because the drink already has that margarita-like feel.

A vodka is always a sound option for the mocktail-to-cocktail conversion. Yet, you might want to make it more interesting with a flavored vodka like citrus or strawberry.

If rum is your summer liquor of choice, it works very well in the Green Lemonade, too. Stick with white or aged rums to retain the drink's smoothness. Spiced rum is too much of a contrast, though coconut or mango rum could be quite fun.

Use the Freshest Lemonade and Limeade

The Lemonade and Limeade. For the freshest Green Lemonade, take a few minutes to make a large batch of both the lemonade and limeade. Limeade is made the same way as fresh-squeezed lemonade, you'll just use fresh lime juice. These are excellent to keep in stock in your refrigerator and enjoy on their own or to mix up a quick Green Lemonade whenever you like.

If you do choose to buy either, look for the freshest options at the store. Many are filled with excess sugars or artificial ingredients and leave a bit to be desired when it comes to flavor.

The nice thing about making your own is that you can control the sweet-sour balance to suit your taste. You can also use sugar substitutes to make the drink a little healthier or diet-friendly.

There's a Trick to Peeling Kiwi

Kiwis are fun fruits and they're available year-round. The key to adding them to drinks is to remove the fuzzy peel. If you've ever attempted this, you know that it's not easy. However, there is an ingenious little trick to quickly peeling kiwi that you'll definitely want to try.
