Today's lucky libation is sassy, soothing, and, well, zesty - all at the same time. It is the Zesty Irishman from mixologist and Drambuie brand ambassador, Anthony Caporale.
I want to say that this may be like no other Drambuie cocktail you have had to date, though that would be presuming too much. It is unlike any Drambuie drink I've had for the simple fact that rarely do we find the sweet Scotch-based liqueur paired with citrus, namely triple sec and lemon. Though this may not be the first flavor pairing that comes to mind, it definitely works, and it works quite well.
The initial combination of the Zesty Irishman is Drambuie and Irish whiskey (Michael Collins is an excellent choice here) and one may think that this is an Irish tribute to the Rusty Nail. On second glance (or taste) those fruit elements appear and things start to get really interesting and you get this Whiskey Sour-esque twist. Then, when you finish the drink with ginger ale, the whole picture comes into focus and you are left with a truly delightful drink that is worthy of any St. Patrick's Day party.
