If you are one of the die hard fans of anise or black licorice, this is the ultimate drink for you because there is not one, but two ingredients with that profile. For those who are on the fence about the profile, give it a try because the drink's other ingredients do counteract and mellow the anise, though in no way disguise it. Now, if you are against black licorice in all forms, this is a drink to avoid.
The anise ingredients in question are Lucid Absinthe and black sambuca and one may think this overkill on the flavor, but it actually works well when combined with the soothing flavors of chocolate and coconut. There are other colors of sambuca, including white, red, blue, green, and gold, though here the black is used for the ghostly effect.
Notice that this black cocktail uses the sambuca in the same manner of the grenadine in a Tequila Sunrise. The heavier liquid sinks to the bottom and slowly moves up, integrating into the rest of the drink. It is a fun trick and nothing short of an interesting drink.
