First of all, there is no chocolate in this drink so the name is deceptive in our modern minds. It is actually a mixed drink that I came across in the 1939 Just Cocktails by W.C. Whitfield. In the vein of the Coffee Cocktail (which contains no coffee) it is a poignant reminder of how different drinks were in that era.

What the Chocolate Cocktail is is a mix of maraschino, blackberry, and Chartreuse liqueurs with egg yolk and it is actually quite tasty. It is another great classic cocktail that deserves a bit of attention.

Yield: 1 Cocktail
Ingredients:
- 1 ounce maraschino liqueur
- 1 ounce blackberry liqueur
- 1 ounce Yellow Chartreuse liqueur
- 1 egg yolk
Preparation:
- Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and dry shake (without ice) vigorously.
- Add ice and shake vigorously again.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
