This Duplex was popular once, in fact it's the drink Johnnie Solon was making when challenged for a new drink and ultimately created the Bronx. It's simple, but oh-so-good, especially if you enjoy vermouth. But we're not talking about the 5 dollar bottles here, splurge on good vermouth (Cinzano!) for the simple fact that beyond the bitters, there's nothing there to mask a cheap vermouth. Also, go with a really good, classic-style orange bitters like Regans' No. 6. The vermouth concentration make the Duplex a perfect aperitif.
