This Duplex is a classic cocktail and was once quite popular, particularly when it was first created in the early 1900's. It is said to have been the drink Johnnie Solon of the Waldorf Astoria made prior to the more successful Bronx when challenged to create a new drink.
The drink is simple and it's oh-so-good, particularly if you enjoy vermouth. We're not talking aboutjust any vermouth here. No, this is a drink that requires a good vermouth for the simple fact that beyond the bitters, there's nothing here to mask a cheap vermouth.
