The Devil Cocktail may look harmless and inviting in the glass, but that's not a dusting of nutmeg on top of the creamy white drink, that's cayenne pepper and that's where this cocktail gets its name. The combination of spirits is really nice as a dessert drink or comforting winter cocktail that goes by the name of a Stinger but it's that spicy bite of pepper aftertaste in the Devil that makes things a little more interesting. Although it is not for everyone, this is a decent drink, just beware not to over use the pepper - remember balance.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz brandy
- 1/2 oz white creme de menthe
- pinch of cayenne pepper
Preparation:
- Pour the brandy and creme de menthe (white because the green variety produces an unappealing look for the drink) into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper on top.
- Serve with a water back just in case it gets too hot.
