The Embassy Cocktail is another great cocktail from the 1930's and was featured at Hollywood's Embassy Club. It is almost identical to the more recent Boston Sidecar with just a couple differences. The Embassy Cocktail was likely inspired in part by the brandy and rum mixes found in many holiday drinks, specifically nogs. Mixing those two spirits has proven true for centuries and this is a nice way to experience them in a lighter, non-creamy form.

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 oz brandy
  • 3/4 oz Jamaican rum
  • 3/4 oz Cointreau
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • dash Angostura bitters
  • lime wedge for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  4. Garnish with a lime wedge.

An oldie but a goodie., Member thusled

Took a gulp, and instantly fell in love. This cocktail has a great balance between the sweet, sour, and bitter that has a very pleasant finish. This is one to remember as an apertif or as an evening sipper.
