The Rising Sun cocktail is almost identical to the popular Club Cocktail and it's likely that this one was influenced by the other. The difference between the two brandy cocktails is the addition of orange curacao and substitution of bitters. Both drinks rely on pineapple and maraschino for a fruitier profile against the brandy and the orange of the Rising Sun adds a little more depth but may be too much for some tastes. Personally I prefer the Club over the sun but both are very refreshing cocktails.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz brandy
- 1/2 oz maraschino liqueur
- 1/2 oz pineapple juice
- 1/2 oz orange curacao liqueur
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- lemon peel for garnish
Preparation:
- Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Garnish with a lemon twist.
