Black and Blue Recipe

A Black and Blue beer drink is a brand-specific variation of the Black and Tan. Instead of a pale ale, Blue Moon (a whitbier) is the layer below the Guinness and adds a refreshing citrus note after the dark, dry stout is gone. Many bars that have stout on tap with a Black and Tan spoon attached to pour the Guinness over. But if you are pouring at home a bar spoon will work, the trick to the layers is a slow pour.

Preparation:

  1. Pour the Blue Moon into a pint glass.
  2. Float the Guinness on top to fill the glass, by pouring it over a bar spoon (or Black and Tan spoon) over the Blue Moon.
