The Pink Squirrel dates back to somewhere around the 1960's, was popular for a decade or two then lost some of it's creamy charm. It really is a nice and delicate drink if you have a sweet tooth, but it is very sweet and not for everyone. Another asset of this drink is it's beautiful pink hue, which is attributed to creme de noyaux. Some people try to substitute it with amaretto since it is another almond-flavored liqueur, but that throws off the color the drink is intended to have.
