The Sour Witch is a wicked little cocktail but it tastes so good that it's tempting to have more than one even though you know that is probably not the best idea. Jonathan Pogash, The Cocktail Guru, created this fantastic Halloween cocktail which features Lucid Absinthe, but this is an absinthe cocktail with class and a lot of flavor. To offset the anise of the absinthe Pogash has included the sweet flavor of almond syrup, the tart of lime and the sour of cherries, it is all topped off with the elegance of champagne of which I would choose a dry variety to balance everything out.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz. Lucid Absinthe
- 3/4 oz. almond syrup
- 1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
- 3 or 4 pitted sour cherries
- Sparkling wine or Champagne
- grated nutmeg for garnish
Preparation:
- In the bottom of a mixing glass, muddle the sour cherries in the lime juice and almond syrup.
- Add the Lucid with ice and shake very well.
- Strain into a chilled champagne flute.
- Top with sparkling wine or champagne.
- Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
