The Tom Collins refreshing gin sour that is an excellent sipper for hot summer days. There are a two common ways to make this drink. The one below uses simple syrup and lemon while the other replaces those two ingredients with the convenience of sour mix.
There are other many “Collins” drinks that vary because of the base liquor and (sometimes) extra ingredients: John Collins, Vodka Collins, Juan Collins, American Collins, Rhubarb Collins, Lavender Sapphire Collins.

Yield: 1 Cocktail
- 1 1/2 ounces gin
- 1 ounce lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce simple syrup
- Club soda
- Maraschino cherry for garnish
- Lemon slice for garnish
- Pour the gin, lemon juice, and sugar syrup in a collins glass with ice cubes.
- Stir thoroughly.
- Top with club soda.
- Garnish with the cherry and orange slice.
Note: Sometimes a mixing tin is placed on the glass and the mix is given a quick shake prior to adding the soda.
