Using a lemon or lime for garnishing a cocktail is a great way to add a splash of color to the drink presentation and a hint of citrus flavor to the finished cocktail. These garnishes are very easy to cut and can be used for any cocktail to compliment the drink's flavors. For the best garnishes choose fruits that are ripe and have little or no bruises on the skin.

The following step-by-step instructions will show you how to create simple wedges, slices and half-moons to garnish your cocktails. Though limes are used in the tutorial, any of these cuts will work for lemons as well.

There is also a tutorial for cutting orange garnishes, which is very similar. Used more for lemons than limes, this video will show you how to make a lemon spiral.
