From what I've seen there were more "Millennium Cocktails" created at the turn of the recent cycle than most any other drink. Each of them is almost completely different and this one just happens to be gin based. In The Joy of Mixology Gary Regan has a bourbon and peach version with suggestions for quickly turning it into either a sour and a collins. You'll find also find Dale DeGroff's Courvoisier Cognac, pineapple, and curacao "Millennium" in Craft of the Cocktail. The list goes on and all are great for celebrating New Year's, even if it isn't the "big" one.

Yield: 1 Cocktail
Ingredients:
- 1 oz gin
- 1/2 oz cherry brandy
- 1 1/2 oz orange juice
- splash of Ginger ale
Preparation:
- Pour the gin, cherry brandy and orange juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well.
- Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
- Add a splash of ginger ale.
