The Minnehaha (a Lakota Sioux word for "curling water" or "waterfall") is one of those classic cocktails that I found while flipping through the pages of my first edition, wood covered copy of Just Cocktails. It was the name that drew me in because I grew up in Minnehaha County, South Dakota, but it was the cocktail's similarity to the Bronx that had me hooked. What I adore about this cocktail over the other is that the vermouth and orange juice ratios are switched. The Minnehaha concentrates on the vermouth and backs off the juice, which makes this cocktail drier. I do prefer to add Angostura bitters for balance.
