Saketini

Cocktail Glass

Glass Guide- Cocktail Glass

In the Saketini the sake acts like the vermouth of a classic Martini and adds a different nuance to the drink that only the "rice wine" can contribute. Technically sake is not a "wine," but is more like beer because it is distilled from grain. You'll see a lot of Sake Martini recipes that can vary greatly: many add an orange liqueur and some utilize more sake than this. The other option is the garnish. Typically it is an olive but I like to go a little brighter and use an Asian fruit like a lychee for a unique adornment.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 oz gin
  • 1/4 oz sake
  • olive for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Pour the ingredients into a mixing glass filled with ice.
  2. Stir well.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
  4. Garnish with an olive.
