Satan's Whiskers

By Colleen Graham, About.com

Cocktail Glass

Glass Guide- Cocktail Glass

The mix of flavors in this Satan's Whiskers is really quite pleasant but it is potent and taller than most neat drinks (grab those over-sized cocktail glasses) and that's probably where it got its scary name. According to A.J. Rathburn's Good Spirits book if you were to skip the Grand Marnier for another orange liqueur like curacao the drink would then be called a "Curled Satan's Whiskers." A small technicality (even though the two liqueurs produce slightly different tastes in the drink) but an important note if you ever here the term.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz gi
  • 1/2 oz Grand Marnie
  • 1 oz dry vermout
  • 1 oz sweet vermout
  • 1 oz orange juic
  • 2 dashes orange bitter

Preparation:

  1. Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
