Virginia's Punch was influenced by the Spiced Silver Bells by Camarena Tequila and the 'Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus' story. I enjoyed the cranberry spice syrup of that recipe and decided to bring that into a mocktail that is equally fitting to the holiday season. Pomegranate and cranberry juices seemed like a wonderful base and they ended up working quite well.
White cranberry juice is slightly lighter than red and I prefer that with the pomegranate, which tends to be heavier. The other experiment you can do on your own is which soda to use to finish Virginia's Punch. I found that I preferred Dry Rhubarb Soda, though ginger ale is delightful as well. On the other hand, if you are in for adding more of a kick go with ginger beer.
