This Cider Nog recipe was adapted from The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book and is a very classic non-alcoholic, eggnog-ish holiday drink. The simplicity of the Cider Nog is astounding for its taste and it beats those packaged eggnogs you can get at the supermarket. One debate I hear of all the time is that many mixed drink use raw egg, which can lead to salmonella or some other poisoning. If you're opposed to raw egg, most of the egg substitutes will work, however I find the taste of the finish drinks to lack some of the intended flavor.
Ingredients:
- apple cider
- 1 egg or egg substitute
- 1 Tbsp sugar
Preparation:
- Pour the egg and sugar in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well.
- Strain into an old-fashioned glass.
- Fill with chilled cider.
