Madison Avenue Cocktail

Old-fashioned Glass

Glass Guide- Old-fashioned Glass

The Madison Avenue is a great rocks drink similar to the Mojito, but different. The creator of the drink was one Eddie Woeke who worked at the Weylin Bar around 1936. The bar was located in a hotel of the same name on Madison Avenue in New York City which was build in 1921. What this cocktail has to offer is a rum base with a hint of mint and orange and it is all served on the rocks. It's refreshing and overall a nicely balanced drink.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz white rum
  • 3/4 oz Cointreau
  • 1/2 oz lime juice
  • dash of orange bitters
  • mint leaves
  • sprig of mint for garnish
  • lime slice for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Add the liquids and a few mint leaves to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake well.
  3. Strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice.
  4. Garnish with a sprig of mint and slice of lime.
