I recently had the great fortune to taste Park Avenue Liquor's single barrel offering of Glendronach 1989 single malt scotch. While this whisky isn't cheap at $135, this is a great whisky to choose for someone who enjoys unique, high quality single malt scotch. Only 300 individually numbered bottles are available of this 19 year old offering, so pick up a bottle before they are gone.
On the nose, this rich Speyside malt tempts with hints of candied orange peel, walnuts, roasted chestnut and cacao nibs. At 117 proof, some might worry about this dram being too hot for the palate without dilution, but years of aging in a sherry cask have created a sweet and nutty dram featuring dried apricots, roasted hazelnuts, clotted cream and shortbread notes. The finish is long, lingering and warm, with more dried fruit and nut notes. This is a truly exceptional single malt scotch and worth seeking out. Highly Recommended.
