Guide Review - Bong Vodka
Bong Vodka:
Following the recent trend of luxury spirits that have inundated a grateful market, Bong Vodka has reached that benchmark of a true winner. The superiorly clean, silky vodka is a delight to behold and cherish as well as a versatile cocktail ingredient. From the beginning, with it’s straw-like aroma and waves of fresh cut flowers that make a subtle appearance, to the short, warm, silky finish, this vodka deserves to be appreciated as a modern masterpiece. The palate itself is everything a good vodka should be: relatively transparent with only the slightest hint of flavor, which in this case is marked with warm citrus, lavender and grain. It is almost a shame to disguise Bong Vodka in a cocktail. However, to obtain superior drinks one must begin with superior ingredients. To that fact, I would have to recommend mixing Bong in lightly flavored cocktails, especially Vodka, Diamond and Orange Martinis along with an April Rain or Campari Cocktail. This is also the perfect vodka to pair with fine Champagne in your Flirtinis and Champanskas.
The Bottle:
Artist Jimi Beach developed the concept of the Bong Spirit brand. It is certainly a well-designed marketing strategy that not only redefines the spirit world, but also the art community. Bottles of Bong Vodka have a distinct shape, are made with fine glass, and topped with a chrome overcap. While the original design is a marvel of its own, a collector series of bottles featuring the art of several up and coming artists is also available and are randomly packed with the unadorned bottles in each case that is distributed.
What’s Next:
Vodka is not the last stop for Bong Spirits. Sometime in 2007, blanco and reposado tequilas will be released and future plans for gin, rum, whiskey and even beer are in the works.
