IDÔL Vodka

About.com Rating threehalf out of Five

By Colleen Graham, About.com

The Bottom Line

The characteristic that pops out for IDÔL Vodka is not its seven column continuous distillation or its pure spring water from a source that was once said to have the ability to cure. No, IDÔL stands out for one distinct reason; it is distilled from the same Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes that produce the finest wines of Burgundy, France. This "wine into spirits" technique results in a delightful Martini or Cosmopolitan that any white wine lover will enjoy.
Pros
  • Silky and smooth.
  • A vodka for white wine lovers.
Cons
  • It's softness may not be to everyone's tastes.

Description

  • Produced in Burgundy, France.
  • 80 proof (40% alc/vol)
  • Retails for around $40 per 750mL bottle
  • Released in the fall of 2005

Guide Review - IDÔL Vodka

Following in the fine traditions of Burgundy winemakers, the techniques employed in the production of IDÔL Vodka are well designed and embrace quality throughout every step. Hand picked and selected grapes, a seven column continuous distillation, a total of five filtrations and pristine spring water have combined to create this crystal clear gem of a vodka that is a silky smooth sipper and a flavor filled (however subtle) mixer.

IDÔL is not only labeled as boutique vodka, it is a boutique vodka. By distilling such fine grapes using the fermenting techniques of wine, one is almost trapped into an inability to distinguish this vodka from a great wine. The grapes are apparent and dominant from beginning to end with a subtlety and sweetness mixed to perfection. The silkiness is comforting and the flavor is relaxing. The vodka is amazing.
