Garlic-Habenero Infused Vodka

By , About.com Guide

I love spicy things and I love garlic. So why not mix these two together in a bottle of vodka? Those were my thoughts and after a few trial runs with some killer hot results, I finally found the right mix. A few words of caution: you may not want to drink too much of this straight as it is rather intense, on the rocks is okay but caution should be taken. This vodka does make an excellent Bloody Mary (no hot sauce or pepper needed).

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium sized bulb of garlic
  • 1 small habenero pepper
  • 750ml bottle of premium vodka
  • infusion jar with tight sealing lid

Preparation:

  1. Separate the garlic into cloves and remove the skins.
  2. Rinse the habenero pepper to remove any unwanted chemicals. Use the pepper whole or cut it in half, removing all seeds.
  3. Place the garlic and habenero pepper into a clean quart-sized mason jar.
  4. Fill the jar with vodka.
  5. Secure the lid on the jar and shake well.
  6. Store the infusion in a dark place at room temperature for 3 days.
  7. Strain the vodka through a coffee filter into a seperate container.
  8. Store as you would any other vodka.
