What is it about cold, minty cocktails that draw us in on some of the coldest days of winter? Maybe it's because, although light and chilled, these drinks give us a warm, cozy feeling that begins at the scent and ends with a cooling thaw of the blood. Whatever it is, this Peppermint Froth is a prime example of a well-designed winter cocktail. Either of the recommended garnishes will finish the cocktail off perfectly, but I've also found that cutting a slit in a piece of mint chocolate fudge and mounting it on the rim of the glass gets a little more attention and is the ultimate indulgence.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 parts Grey Goose Vodka
  • 1 part peppermint schnapps
  • 1/2 part simple syrup
  • 1/2 part cream
  • candy cane or peppermint patty for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Mix all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is frosted and beaded with sweat.
  3. Strain into rocks glass filled with crushed ice.
  4. Garnish with candy cane or peppermint patty.
