Ryan's Ire Cocktail

A new bourbon whiskey drink to make at home

From

Good whiskey cocktails do not need a lot of ingredients or exotic techniques to be enjoyable. Sometimes very simple drinks can impress your guests and make entertaining so much easier. For this cocktail, I looked for inspiration to memories of some old friends. I was trying to create something that would be complex and enjoyable without becoming the center of attention. This is a subtle and fun cocktail that is easy to make so that you can spend more time socializing and less time behind the bar.

The innate sweetness of Four Roses bourbon pairs well with the orange notes in the triple sec, and the herbal notes in the Agwa liqueur are enhanced by just a dash of Angostura bitters. An orange twist marries all of the ingredients harmoniously together. Tonight, I’ll be raising a cocktail to this drink's namesake, an old friend, Ryan Eyre. I suggest you try one soon and raise a toast to memories of old friends.

Ingredients:

Preparation:

  1. In a mixing glass, add first three ingredients.
  2. Add 1 dash of Angostura bitters.
  3. Fill the mixing glass with ice, and stir vigorously for 30 seconds.
  4. Strain into a stemmed cocktail glass, garnish with an orange twist, making sure to express the oils from the orange peel directly onto the surface of the drink.
