London's world famous Savoy Hotel is home to the renowned American Bar, formerly headed by Harry Craddock from 1920-1939. Craddock wrote The Savoy Cocktail Book, one of the most influential cocktail books of all time in 1930. The Approve cocktail is one of Craddock's forgotten classics, featuring rye or Canadian whiskey, Angostura bitters and orange curacao. Recently, cocktail maestro Salvatore Calabrese has resurrected this cocktail at the Playboy Club in London, where he uses pre-Prohibition American whiskey, Angostura bitters from 1915 and Dubb orange curacao from the late 1860s.
